3.3 megapixels, I have the small microdrive (IBM miniature hard drive CF card) it came with and it holds over a thousand reg res pics, with the 1 gig microdrive it could hold tons. Uses AA's but I keep two sets of Energizer accu Nicke metal hydride batts and they last awhile. a lot of features you can change within the camera, not just a simple point and shoot. I've been very happy with it. takes movies as well and on the microdrive I imagine you could put some longer movies as well. camera also has direct usb connection and can act as a portable hard drive. check out cnet.com for reviews. If its too pricey you can check out the models under it. Same camera except fewer megapixels. be careful, there are some good deals but most of the cameras are pretty crappy in one or more ways. have to keep looking and researching until you find a good one. good luck, congrats on graduation
